2021年2月19日早朝（日本時間で午前6時前）にNASAの火星探査車パーサヴィアランスが火星地表に着陸成功しました。
なお、日本のメディアでは「Perseverance」を「パーシビアランス」と表記しています（今朝のNHKニュースも）。
これは共同通信社の和訳が拡がり始めているのではないかと思われます。
NASAの動画などで耳にする限り「パーシビアランス」とは聴こえないので、新たな和製英語にならないかと危惧しています。

NASAのパーサヴィアランス火星探査車チームのメンバーは、2021年2月18日木曜日、カリフォルニア州パサデナにあるNASAのジェット推進研究所で、探査車が火星に着陸した直後に最初の画像を送信してくるのをじっと待っています。 火星でのパーサヴィアランスのミッションの主な目的は、古代の微生物の生命の痕跡を見つけ出すことを含む宇宙生物学です。 探査車は、火星の地質と過去の気候から、人類による火星探査への道を開き、火星の岩と堆積層を採取する最初のミッションになります。
