この画像の右端付近の火星の岩石表面に見える小さな多角形の線は、30億年以上前に泥が乾燥して亀裂が発生した可能性を示しています。

訳者注:

この画像は2016年12月20日にキュリオシティのローバーが火星地上で撮影したもので、人間の目からすると火星の昼間に見えるように画像処理をしてあるとのことです。
